Bryony Lodge Nursing Home

Set in Sunderland’s Grangetown region, Bryony Lodge is a purpose-built, 45-bed nursing home catering for a wide variety of needs. Types of care available at this nursing home includes 24/7 residential care, elderly care, younger care, end of life care, respite care, day care and nursing care. The facility also specialises in care for multiple physical and mental diseases, including cancer, Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease.

The team at Bryony Lodge includes Registered General Nurses and a Registered Mental Nurse, as well as a range of care staff. Sharon Nicholson manages the facility to achieve a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for residents, something which helped them to gain an overall “Good” rating from the CQC report in May 2018.

Lovingly landscaped gardens mean that there is outside space for residents to enjoy with their family. Inside, all rooms come with an en-suite washroom, a television point and access to WiFi. Residents are allowed their own pets and can bring their own furniture to help make them feel more at home in new surroundings.

At Bryony Lodge, traditional home-cooked meals are served, using fresh produce, while residents can make selections from different choices on a daily basis – special dietary requirements can also be catered for. With dining rooms to relax in, residents are encouraged to socialise with family and other residents at meal times.

There is plenty to keep residents active and mentally stimulated, with staff arranging activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, in-house cookery and sensory sessions. Days trips to attractions are also arranged, including trips to museums, shopping centres and the beach.

The Bryony Lodge care home is situated in a great location, close by to local transport links, shops, public gardens, a leisure centre and a cinema. For visitors, there is plenty of parking and wheelchair access to the facility, while residents can go out either by themselves, with friends, family or staff.
